The portal click is not the control

21 July 2026 · Aisha Rahman

Finance teams in Negeri Sembilan often treat the MyTax submit action as the moment of truth. The portal’s own validations catch empty fields and some arithmetic. They do not catch a computation that never met the ledger, an attachment that belongs to last year, or an approver who signed a summary they did not see.

An application audit sits one step earlier. We ask whether the pack that will travel through the portal can be reconstructed from working papers, and whether someone independent of the preparer has read the same numbers the portal will store.

If your only control is ‘it went in,’ you will meet the exception later—during a query, an amendment, or a desk review—when the people who assembled the pack have already moved on.
